Einführung
Überblick über überwachtes Lernen mit Schwerpunkt auf Regressions- und Klassifizierungsmethoden. Der Lehrplan umfasst lineare und polynomische Regression, logistische Regression und lineare Diskriminanzanalyse; Kreuzvalidierung und Bootstrap, Modellauswahl und Regularisierungsmethoden (Ridge und Lasso); nichtlineare Modelle, Splines und verallgemeinerte additive Modelle; baumbasierte Methoden, Random Forests und Boosting; Support-Vector-Maschinen; etwas unüberwachtes Lernen: Hauptkomponenten und Clustering (k-Means und hierarchisch). Die Berechnung erfolgt in R, durch Tutorien und Hausaufgaben.
Dieser mathematikarme Kurs wird nur per Fernzugriff über Videosegmente (MOOC-Stil) angeboten. Die TAs werden wöchentliche Sprechstunden per Fernzugriff über eine Online-Plattform wie Google Hangout oder BlueJeans abhalten. Es gibt vier Hausaufgaben, eine Zwischenprüfung und eine Abschlussprüfung, die alle per Fernzugriff durchgeführt werden.
